A hackathon is best described as an “invention marathon”, where you and your team have a limited amount of time to stretch the limits of your creativity and bring ideas to reality through technology.
NFT (Non-fungible token) is a unit of data stored in a blockchain that can be bought, sold, or traded digitally. NFTs can be digital trading cards, virtual property, in-game collectibles, or music.
Play-to-earn is a game model where players are able to earn money or other rewards while playing the game. Players usually utilize NFTs in play-to-earn games as usable characters, items, or entry tickets/keys to tournaments.
Yes! All participants will get introductory material about NFTs, play-to-earn, and the Polygon Blockchain implementation. However, we recommend doing some research before the event as well. Just to keep that competitive edge sharp!
There is no limit to how big your team can be. However, more people means more management, we think around 5 people is the sweet spot between skills and productivity. We also welcome people that don’t have a team to attend and connect with other participants during the event.
Yes, absolutely! We’ll be carefully reviewing applications and will encourage them to make teams during the event. Or maybe your skill-set will be a perfect match for an already existing team and you’ll be able to join forces.
All participating teams will have to conceptualize a game idea with play-to-earn mechanics and present it to the judges. You’ll only have 48hours so the event is an excellent opportunity to test your time management, teamwork, game design, blockchain, and prototyping skills in a safe, fun, and relaxed environment.
The most important skills you’ll need are the ability to work together in a team and a creative mind that loves to innovate. Everyone can contribute to the project via their ideas, business skills, art, programming, music, game design knowledge, or presentation prowess. However, basic blockchain knowledge will help to get your idea off the ground faster.
Of course, you can! We’ll provide you with the basic knowledge to get you started. But remember, games are complex and require a multitude of different skills to work correctly. That’s why we invite musicians, artists, game lovers, innovators, thinkers, creators, programmers, artists, designers to have fun and belong to a community.
The event is completely free to enter. We’re not here to monetize innovation, creativity, and passion for gaming – that’s why there are absolutely no participating or registration fees. We’ll also do our best to make you feel comfortable during the event!
We’ll have the doors of Vilnius Tech Park open till 00:00 each night. However, if you’re in need of accommodation you can stay over at the Ibis Vilnius Center 3*.

No. All participants will have to create original projects during the hackathon. However, if you have an existing idea you want to work it’s allowed as long as it has never been presented to the public or another hackathon.
48 hours is not a long amount of time. So, we don’t require you to have the whole idea fully implemented. However, we do expect you to prepare a presentation, prototype, or showcase of your idea so it can be judged and evaluated.
You will have to present a demonstration explaining your project/solution and the whole concept.
You’ll find everything you need to know here.
If you couldn’t find the answer here, don’t worry! We’re here to help just drop us an email at hackathon@blockchaincentre.io and we’ll be more than happy to answer your questions.
