Objective of the HackathonThe objective of this Blockchain Hackathon Play & Gain! (the Hackathon) is to inspire students, beginner game developers, and young professionals to learn more about blockchain technology, blockchain gaming and NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens).
During the Hackathon participants (hereinafter Participant or You) will have 48 hours to conceptualize a blockchain based game idea with play-to-earn mechanics and thereafter present it to the judges of the Hackathon.
Organisation of the Hackathon
The Hackathon is organised by Blockchain Centre Vilnius, VšĮ, legal entity code 304751079, office registered at Upės Street 23, LT-08128 Vilnius (the Organizer). The Hackathon is supported by the following sponsors of the Hackathon: Animoca Brands Limited, office registered at Unit 417-421, Cyberport 1, 100 Cyberport Road, Hong Kong, Super How? , legal entity code 304974769, office registered at Aukštaičių Street 7, PAUPYS, LT-11341 Vilnius (each separately referred to as the Sponsor and all together as the Sponsors).
The Hackathon is scheduled as follows: 26th November to 28 November 2021. The Hackathon will be held at Vilnius Tech Part at Sapiegos St. 17, Vilnius, Lithuania.
The Organizer reserves the right to shorten, extend, modify or terminate the Hackathon for any reason without incurring liability from the Participant as a result thereof. In such cases, the Organizer will provide notice thereof to the Participants by any means of its choice, including e-mail and/or publication on website available at https://blockchaincentre.io/hackathon/ (the Website).
Participation in the Hackathon
The Hackathon is free of charge and open to all Participants who are 18 years old and above.
Each Participant wishing to participate in the Hackathon shall complete the registration form available at the Website. In submitting application, each Participant hereby fully and unconditionally accept these Terms and Conditions of the Hackathon (the Terms), which is binding agreement between each Participant, the Organizer and the Sponsors. By participation in the Hackathon each Sponsor is considered as the party to these Terms. The Organizer and Participants are considered as undertaken non-revocable obligations granted under these Terms in respect of the Sponsors.
Participants are required to bring/use their own equipment during the Hackathon.
For Participants appropriate team work spaces outfitted with seating, power supply and access to restroom facilities, communication channel access, and internet/Wi-Fi will be provided. Organizer will not provide accommodation for Participants and Participants shall be responsible for booking a hotel on their own.
Each Participant undertakes to the best of their ability not to present exact ideas/solutions that have been previously presented at other hackathons or submitted to other initiatives or disclosed to public otherwise.
There is not requirement for the minimum or maximum number of team members, however it may be considered, that team around 5 Participants should be the most effective. Participants can form a team participating in Hackathon before or during the Hackathon.
Organizer will provide mentoring throughout the Hackathon in the course of several check-ins. Mentors are not part of the teams.
Winners and Prizes
After the game creation challenge, judges of the Hackathon will choose the projects they like best. All decisions on processes, shortlisting and final winners depends solely on the opinion of the judges. The list of the judges is available at the Website.
After completion of the projects evaluation, the judges will determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, which will be awarded with the special prizes announced at the Website or during the Hackathon.
When evaluating the projects, the judges, among other, will rely on the following judging criteria: social impact, originality and innovativeness, scalability, domain, technical feasibility and complexity, business model viability and pitching.
Additionally, to the prizes indicated above, the Organizer and Sponsors may, at their sole discretion, elect the team(-s) of Participants and support their further project development started at the Hackathon. Blockchain Centre may provide up to 150,000 Eur in services, Polygon Network and Animoca Brands may provide up to 100,000 Eur in funding each and Super How may provide incubator program, which the Participants agree shall be valued at 120,00 Eur, and up to 3,000 USDT for selected project development, as it is further indicated in the Website (the Additional Reward(-s)). Sponsors and Organizer are entitled provide any amount as they deem appropriate for the Additional Rewards, however not exceed capped amounts indicated herein before. Organizer Each Sponsor is entitled to reward one project, i.e. there shall be no cases, when a project receives more than one Additional Reward. Additional Rewards, can be provided under sole discretion of Organizer and each Sponsor of the Hackathon. However, neither these Terms, nor any information provided in the Website constitute obligation of the Organizer and Sponsors to provide Additional Reward, even if project / Participants are announced as winners, if respectively Organizer and/or Participants under their sole discretion do not consider it as commercially or otherwise successful. Additionally, in order to provide any Additional Reward, Organizer and/or Sponsor, that is providing respective Additional Reward, may require respective Participants to enter into separate agreement in relation to the Additional Reward (e.g., where investment, further development of the project, intellectual property, company establishment and other rights and obligations of the Participants and other parties are indicated). In case Organizer/Sponsor and respective Participants do not agree on terms and conditions of the separate agreement indicate above, then Organizer and / or Sponsors respectively are entitled no to provide Additional Reward without any liability to the Organizer, other Sponsors and Participants.
Participants acknowledge and agree that Organizer, Sponsors and judges shall have no liability whatsoever on how the prizes will be split up between Participant team members.
The prizes and Additional Rewards, include all taxes payable by the receiving Participants and will not be compensated to the Participants additionally. Payment of the applicable taxes is responsibility of the Participants, unless otherwise would be indicated under applicable laws.
Each Participant represents and warrants that any information, element, database, solution, copyright, intellectual property, intellectual property rights, any other rights and materials (hereinafter all together referred as the Materials) used in Hackathon is owned or otherwise legally possessed by each Participant, participation in the Hackathon and accession to these Terms do not violate any agreement or obligation to any invention assignment, proprietary information, confidentiality, non-solicitation, noncompetition or similar agreement, intellectual property or proprietary rights of employer, contractor or any other third person. Subject to limitation provided further in Clause 5.2, each Participant hereby grants to the Organizer and each Sponsor unlimited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable, transferable, irrevocable licence to use in any territory of the world in any manner chosen upon sole discretion of the Organizer and Sponsor (the License) any and all copyrights, codes, programmes, adaptation, developments, data, know-how, designs, solutions, trademarks, copyrights, other intellectual property rights, any other rights and any other work results created and/or or arising during the Hackhathon, including all Materials and related rights thereof (hereinafter all together referred as the Results). Consequently, the Organizer and Sponsors will have all unrestricted rights to copy, edit, create derivative works, publicly display, publicly perform, broadcast, publish and use, in whole or in part the Results (including Materials contained therein), in any manner (including for commercial purposes) without further compensation during and after the Hackathon. At Organizer and/or Sponsor’s request and expense, Participant will assist and cooperate with Organizers and/or Sponsors in all respects to execute documents, and will take such further acts reasonably requested by Organizer and/or Sponsors to enable Organizer and/or Sponsors to acquire, transfer, maintain, perfect and enforce their intellectual property rights and other legal use and protections for the Results. Nothing herein shall constitute an employment, joint venture, or partnership relationship between Participant and Organizer / Sponsor. Participants will not receive any compensation from Organizer / Sponsor in connection with any Results. Each Participant acknowledges and agrees that Organizer / Sponsor or other Participants or third parties may have developed or commissioned works which are similar to the Result of Participant or Participant’s team, or may develop something similar in the future, and each Participant waives any claims that Participant may have resulting from any similarities to the Result of Participant or Participant’s team.
If a Hackathon project developed by the Participants is awarded by Organizer and / or Sponsor with Additional Rewards, then the License is granted only in respect of such Organizer or Sponsor and respectively Organizer and other Sponsors, that have not granted Additional Award to such specific project, are not entitled to the License.
Representations and Warranties
By registering for the Hackathon, each Participant represents and warrants:
Participant will respect the rights of others. This means that anything submitted shall not be copyrighted or be otherwise proprietary to any third party;
Participant will not submit or publish anything that could damage the Hackathon, Organizer, Sponsors, or any other third party;
Participant will not act in unlawful, threatening, harassing or other illegal and/or unethical manner;
Participant will not post or submit solicitations of business or advertisements;
Participant will not submit contain that contains viruses, malware or any other disabling or malicious code.
By participating in the Hackathon, You agree to share Your image (in any form and media) or Your screenshot taken by Organizer or the Sponsors or its contractors without receiving compensation of any kind. You understand that the images and footage may be broadcast, displayed, reproduced, edited, exhibited, used and distributed by Organizer or our Sponsors for promotional purposes. This authorization includes the use of Your name, image and voice. Additionally, Organizer and our Sponsors shall have the right to refer to Your submission in the participation of the Hackathon and use the connection for promotional purposes.
The liability of Organizer, Sponsors, mentors, judges and partners is limited to the maximum extent as permitted under applicable law. In no event will Organizer, Sponsors, mentors, judges or partners liable towards you for any damages (direct and indirect) whatsoever, whether in contract or tort unless the damage has been caused intentionally or due to gross negligence.
You agree to release, indemnify, defend and hold Organizer, Sponsors, mentors, judges and partners harmless, from any and all claims of any nature that in any way arise from participation in the Hackathon.
Breaches of these Terms by You, or for any other reasonable cause (e.g. inappropriate behaviour), shall result Your removal from the Hackathon.
The Agreement enters force upon Your registration to participate in the Hackathon.
The laws and legislation of the Republic of Lithuania shall apply to the Agreement and the legal relations created hereunder.
Disputes shall be settled in the courts of Lithuania.
